Easter is around the corner. This cultural holiday holds great significance for the Christian community. The day is the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

However, the history of this carnival goes way back. Although Easter day is a celebration, Good Friday is exactly the opposite. It was the crucifixion of Jesus. The celebration of Easter is on the first Sunday of the full moon day. The day is not constant. This year it is on the 17th of April 2022.

On this occasion of the holy festival, let us reminisce the past once more:

The Story behind Easter:

The crucifixion of Jesus was in the 1st-century. During that time, the Jewish temples used imprudent methods to collect revenues. The Jewish people had to take ritual baths in order to enter the temple. The temple priest manipulated this to fill their pockets. However, according to Jesus, taking a bath for entering the temple was completely unnecessary.

Nonetheless, this seemed a threat to the priests. So, they were determined to extinguish their trouble by crucifying Jesus. The execution day of Jesus was a tragic Friday. Every year Christians commemorate the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ on Good Friday.

After the death of Jesus, the temple ascended his body from the cross and buried in a cave. They covered the face of the cavern with a massive piece of stone. It was so that no one could enter and steal the body. However, the grave was empty after a day. Some women who visited the area found the door of the den wide open. Thus began the Easter Day, when Jesus reawaken.

Many people saw Jesus that day and thereafter. He stayed on earth for 40 days and left for eternal rest.

Traditions & Celebration of Easter Day

Ever since the resurrection of Jesus, there have been several traditional customs on Easter day. Easter lamb is one of the most influential aspects of the celebration. The lamb symbolizes Jesus and his sacrifice.

Apart from that, there are also Easter eggs. Eggs represent the beginning of life. Since Jesus came back into life on that day, eggs hold significance in the celebration. In the medieval period, the 40 days before Easter, eggs were taboo to eat. On the Sunday, people used to eat eggs to end their fasting.

There are several activities surrounding eggs. The red-dyed eggs illustrate the bloodshed of Jesus Christ on the cross. If you have kids at home, egg hunting is the perfect entertainment for your kids. Hide the eggs inside your house or garden and let them find the treasure.

Besides that there are some more things you can do at home:
