DESCRIPTION:
Khargeswar Mahadev Temple is one of the oldest temples in the city of Kharagpur and is dedicated to God of Gods Mahadev, Lord Shiva. Khargeswar was built around 400 years ago by King Kharag Singh and hence the name of the city and the temple are intertwined. This place is also mentioned in Mahabharata, as it was ruled by Hiramba, the deamon king and was destroyed by Bhima. The temple is at the very same place where Bhima once killed Hiramba during the time of their exile.
