Choudhury Eye Clinic was established way back in 1946 by Late Dr Radha Ranjan Choudhury in Narsingtola, Silchar. He was joined by Dr Haimanti Choudhury and Dr Himadri Choudhury and the clinic attained the status of a hospital in 2015. Choudhury Eye Hospital and Research Centre is the only tertiary eye care centre in South Assam.
